Course description: Objectives of the course are:
- to acquire the basic knowledge needed to understand information technology in healthcare institutions
- develop the necessary skills to apply acquired knowledge in laboratory activity
- introduce students about the possibilities of using computer equipment to improve laboratory work and patient health care
Computer in measuring technique: the concept of laboratory information system (LIS), role of computer in metering, connection of automated laboratory equipment and laboratory computer. LIS Organization: the concept of LIS organization and organization culture, organizational forms of LIS, organization and standardization of laboratory data.
Accepting laboratory data into a computer: entering search queries, creating work orders, identifying samples, creating sticker labels, entering and verifying search results, and creating and delivering findings. Storage of laboratory data: organization of laboratory databases, modeling of laboratory data, possibility of easy access to data for search and comparison of data and preparation of financial and business reports. Linking laboratory data: the concept of Hospital Information System (BISA), BIS organizational structure, LIS structural modules and integration of laboratory data with patient medical record. Security Risks and Abuse Protection:
security and ethical issues, protection of secrecy of stored data and integration of security measures for the full protection of LIS. Application of modern information technologies: general overview of modern information and biomedical technologies and their application in laboratory work processes: computer networks, Internet, electronic business, telemedicine, expert systems, patient surveys (POCT) etc. Monitoring Labor Labor Quality and the role of norms in the quality control of laboratory work. Meaning and application of standard deviation properties and correlation coefficients in laboratory systems.
